Living and Sharing the Gospel in Africa |
|
Hello. It is my prayer that the church is a haven of peace wherever you are, and that you find rest and comfort in the Lord each day.
A number of you have asked how my wife and I are settling into the UK. The answer is that we are doing well but have not yet completely settled in. We miss Africa! Of course in 2007 I hope to be able to conduct various conferences around Africa and to be able to see many of you again. Thank you for you patience during this interim stage. I have produced a six-month Bible study for use both in the UK and in Africa, and will be sending it to you regularly. This study can be re-produced and distributed as you see fit. The plan is to have two studies per month. The first study is attached, and discusses the relevance of the Bible itself and of Bible study. The Word document is formatted for printing on UK standard A4 paper. Back to Bible Study is intended to stimulate reflection on some of the basic teachings of Christianity. The idea is that each reader will use this study for personal Bible Study. Of course, it could also be used for Group studies. Please feel free to share this study with anyone who might be interested. Please take the time to check the Scriptures used and to participate in the reflection sections. I suggest that each study begins with prayer during which the reader asks for God’s guidance in understanding the biblical passages used. The studies are intended to be heavily scriptural. Bibles used are the 1982 version of the New King James 9 (NKJ) by Thomas Nelson and published by Broadman and Holman (USA), and the New Living Translation (NLT) of 1996 published by Tyndale House Publishers (USA). Scripture taken from THE MESSAGE is copyright © by Eugene Peterson, 1993, 1994, 1995 and is used by kind permission of the NavPress Publishing Group, USA. Each study will refer to the relevant section of the Statement of Beliefs of the Worldwide Church of God. If there are any questions arising from the Bible studies or on other biblical matters, please write to me by e-mail or by post. Also, for interested “bloggers” you can post your comments at http://wcgukbiblestudy.blogspot.com/ I hope you enjoy the study. My thanks go to Joseph Tkach, Mike Feazell, John Halford, John Stettaford, Ann Nadim and my wife, Shirley, all of whom have helped in checking, editing & proof-reading the material. Warmest regards, James Henderson. |
