 Madagascar

“A father of the fatherless…God sets the solitary in families” (Psalm 68:5-6)

Madagascar, also called the Malagasy Republic, is a huge island south east of the African continent. We have a number of active ministries on the island, including a Youth Basketball ministry and a Street People Ministry. In addition the church in Madagascar is responsible for the Triomphe Orphanage, located just outside the capital city of Antananarivo.

This orphanage is lovingly cared for by Madam Eliazera, one of our members. The church raises funds to support the needs of the orphanage, and the church also supplies Christian guidance and teaching to the children. There are around 80 children from six months to 18 years old at the orphanage. Sometimes police find children abandoned on the streets and bring them to the orphanage for care. There are many reasons, usually tragic reasons, for the children being placed there. The orphanage is a cheery place with lots of laughter and many smiles, just the therapy for these needy children. It costs about US$30 a month to feed, clothe and educate one child.
