God Is Good Enterprises

I was
recently in Ghana on a business trip. Though there is considerable
poverty, the countryside is very beautiful, lush and tropical. Even
more beautiful are the people, who are gentle and friendly towards
foreigners, going out of their way to assist where possible. There is
also a very low crime rate. I travelled around for about a week
through the main city, Accra, and many other small towns. Fortunately
I had a driver so I enjoyed just looking out of the car window at the
scenery and the countryside.
What
struck me most about Ghana were the names of many of the little shops
and businesses. Almost half of them had names like "Jesus is Lord
electrical supplies," or "God is King fashion boutique." Christianity
is very evident, and even in the businesses people are not ashamed to
advertise or express their belief. Too often we in the western world
separate business and religion. We want God to bless us in our
everyday endeavours, yet we don't really want to advertise or
highlight the fact that we are Christians to our business colleagues,
and definitely not to our customers. Maybe what this world needs is a
few more "God is good" enterprises.
