Fred W. Bauer, 86, of Minneapolis, MN, Jan. 29. He was a member since 1963 and a deacon for many years in the Minneapolis South congregation. Most recently, he attended Living Grace Church in Bloomington, MN. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Ruby, and five children: Ruth (Rod) Matthews, of Eleanor, Australia; Mark (Lenore) Bauer, of Durand, WI; David (Mary) Bauer, of Osseo, MN; John (Lydia) Bauer, of Kansas City, MO; and Philip (Donna) Bauer, of Oklahoma City, OK; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Susan M. Clopton (right), 49, of Princeton, TX, April 1. Susan is remembered by her daughter Larissa, husband Carl, mother Margaret and brother James. We are all deeply saddened by this sudden passing of a dear friend and loved one.  She is preceded in death by her father, Edmund Smith.

When a beautiful lady of strength passes, those who love her come together to comfort and support all who remain behind.  Susan's many talents were a reflection of both her parents and her faith.  Her lifetime of love and generosity blurred the boundaries of family and friendship.  She has left us too soon and the measure of her life will not be in years, but in the substance of her good nature and the evidence of the love that will surround her always. A reception was held at the Pathway of Grace Church. Cards may be sent to Carl and Larissa at 9358 Olive Street, Princeton, Texas 75407.

Charlie W. Hewitt, 75, of Avinger, TX, April 5. He and his wife Joyce were married for 58 years, and were in the church for 49 years, attending Grace Christian Fellowship in Longview. He was born July 27, 1932, in New Castle, TX, to Pal Reeves and Thelma Smith Hewitt. He worked as a relief supervisor and welder for 28 years with Texas Eastman in Longview. He is survived by his wife and children: Gary (Sue) Hewitt of Pearland, Debbi (David) Daniels of Baytown, and Rebekah (Vince) Spencer of Avinger; a sister, Marie Woods of Kilgore, and the following grandchildren and spouses: Chris and Tyanne Hewitt, Brandy and Josh Webb, Jennifer Daniels, Desirea Daniels, Heather Hewitt, Felicia and Jason Shephard, Jessica Willadsen, Tamara Willadsen, Amy Lynch, Erin Lynch, Michael Spencer, Chase Spencer, and Misty Spencer, and five great-grandchildren. Granddaughter Brandy Webb wrote the following poem: How do you measure a man? It is not where he has been, it is not what he did, and it is not how much he spent. It is how he lived. It is the joy he brought, and the smile on his face. It is how much love he had, how he treated others. It is the family and friends he left behind. It is how much he is missed when he goes to his final rest. It is the measure Papa met.
