CHAMPLIN, Minnesota—The Champlin and St. Paul churches prepared 225 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.
Shortly after Thanksgiving, member Jeff Skrove was on his way to Operation Christmas Child’s processing center to help them get the regional shipments done (about 800,000 boxes from this region). On his way he stopped at a gas station in his hometown and overheard a customer asking the attendant where some churches were in that town.
The attendant didn’t know, so Jeff asked her what denomination she was looking for. She said it didn’t matter, just one that would accept the shoeboxes she and her neighbors had put together. Jeff informed her that the churches weren’t collecting them anymore since the deadline was two weeks earlier, but since he just happened to be going to the regional processing center, he would be happy to deliver her shoeboxes. He asked her what organization they should credit it to, and she said just to credit it to his church. Thus, our total for this year went from 225 to 260. Doug Johannsen.
