GREENVILLE, North Carolina—Luke Cicchinelli, a podiatrist, asked Pastor Thomas Whitmire and the New Life Fellowship of the WCG, to help him gather stuffed toys again to take on a medical trip to Central America. The congregation previously supplied two suitcases of stuffed toys.
Dr. Cicchinelli needs the stuffed toys for his trip in April. New Life Fellowship received most of the toys from stores that could not sell the items after Christmas and Valentine’s Day. Any individual or congregation that would like to donate stuffed toys can contact Mr. Whitmire by phone at 1-252-413-0785 or by e-mail at Thomas.Whitmire@wcg.org. The stuffed toys should be small, since shipping space is expensive.
Dr. Cicchinelli said that the people are so poor that when a child is operated on they give the child a stuffed toy to cuddle and then take the toy back when the child leaves the unit. By God’s grace the congregation filled two suitcases full of toys that Dr. Cicchinelli took with him. He told our congregation that he tried to give the toys out in a orderly manner, but he had to drop the suitcase on the floor, and it was emptied in one minute. He then hid the other case and gave the remaining toys out one by one.
